George Formby's favourite banjolele (that's a cross between a banjo and a ukulele) will be auctioned at Bonhams next month and is expected to sell for up to £45,000.

George Formby's favourite banjolele (that's a cross between a banjo and a ukulele) will be auctioned at Bonhams next month and is expected to sell for up to £45,000.


The 1930s music hall star referred to the instrument as his "Little Strad" and used it for many of his live performances and studio recordings, including his most famous song, 'When I'm Cleaning Windows.'
