Pop-punks Blink 182 are to make a 2009 comeback, announcing plans for a new album and tour at the Grammys on Sunday.

"To put it simply, we're back," a statement on their website reads. "We mean, really back. Picking up where we left off and then some. In the studio writing and recording a new album. Preparing to tour the world yet again. Friendships reformed. 17 years deep in our legacy."

The band - guitarist Tom DeLonge, bassist Mark Hoppus and drummer Travis Barker - went on hiatus in February 2005. Hoppus and Barker formed new band +44 while DeLonge had some success with Angels And Airwaves.

When TG asked DeLonge in April 2006 if he would ever consider reuniting the band he replied "Fuck no!"

Blink 182 are expected to tour this summer, although no official dates have been confirmed.

Barker sustained serious burns in September 2008 after his light aircraft crashed in the US killing all but two people on board, but has made a full recovery.
