UK drummer aims for World Record
26th May 2009 | 16:03
The guy in question is freelance drummer Phil Knight from London. On 19 July he will set foot on a stage in the middle of Leicester Square gardens and attempt to break the record for the world's longest drum marathon (with support from Roland and Big Dog).
The only time he will be allowed to stop is for five minutes after every hour to eat, drink and have a bathroom break. The current record is one hundred and two hours and forty nine minutes, that’s just over one thousand eight hundred songs. Ouch!
Phil will be making the attempt for the Helen Bamber Foundation, a charity that helps women who are survivors of rape, genocide and other gross human rights violations.
We will, of course, keep you updated on Phil's record attempt. In the meantime, if you would like to make a donation you can do so at www.justgiving.com/drumforlife.
