Version 2 brings a long list of improvements
Tone2 has announced that a new version of its fine-sounding Gladiator synth will be released before the end of 2008.
Based on a type of synthesis called Harmonic Content Morphing, the first version of Gladiator was capable of producing some striking tones. Gladiator 2 is said to sound even better – it features 6,657 waveforms, a new engine, new effects, a second filter and six new unison modes.
In addition, there's an extra sub-oscillator, a feedback-delay module, two additional envelopes, four additional envelope shapers and an extra LFO.
Many other improvements have been made, too, and everything is packaged in a better user interface.
Gladiator 2 costs $199/€149 (it's available for pre-order now), though owners of the original version will be entitled to a free upgrade. It's cross-platform and supports the VST and AU plug-in formats.
