First the UAD-2, now this
TC Electronic has lifted the lid on a new addition to its PowerCore range: the PowerCore 6000. As well as being able to run PowerCore plug-ins, this also features processors from the company's acclaimed System 6000.
Sitting inside this rack-mountable unit are eight FreeScale DSP engines – the same as those in the System 6000. The inclusion of an SRAM memory design means that the PowerCore 6000 is capable of running the high-quality reverb and delay algorithms from the aforementioned system.
The new product features a total of seven System 6000 algorithms: VSS3 Stereo Source Reverb, Nonlin2, DVR 2 Digital Vintage Reverb, MD3 Stereo Mastering, Brickwall Limiter, UnWrap stereo to 5.1 conversion and TapFactory.
This is clearly a piece of serious studio gear, a fact that's reflected in the €2999 price tag. It's set to ship this month with the PowerCore 3.2 software and supports the VST and AU plug-in formats.
