New powered mixer and PA speakers are announced
In a blitz of product announcements, Peavey has revealed details of expansions and updates to its powered mixer, loudspeaker and line-array ranges.
The XR series powered mixer line gets an update with two new additions: the XR1220 console and rack-mountable XR1212, both of which boast DSP effects and dual 600-watt power amps. Also featured is a frequency analyser that analyses the room and automatically sets power amp EQ, and a "smart" feedback elimination system. The mixers debut in Q2 2008 with prices TBA.
Elsewhere in Peavey's live sound range, the SP series of PA speakers gets a redesign; with durability in mind, the new models feature a new Hammerax covering along with a redesigned exterior and metal grill, while retaining all of the previous models' tried-and-tested technology. The new speakers are available from Q3 2008; RRPs are from $499 to $999.
At the upper end of the volume spectrum, Peavey's Versarray series of line-array loudspeakers also gets an update with the addition of the Versarray 212 three-way enclosure. The 212 is designed as a companion to the 218 and 118 subwoofers, and is rated at 4,000watts peak for low frequencies and 800watts peak each for the midrange and high frequencies - RMS rating not yet available. The 212 is designed for "optimum coverage in large performance venues" and sports two 12" Black Widow woofers, dual 4" ribbon-wire voice coils, ten 2.5" Neo Midrange drivers and four waveguide-mounted planar ribbon drivers. Its hardware will allow multiple mounting options, allowing adjustments from 0 to 10degrees. The Versarray is available from Q2 2008 at an RRP of $4399.
