Ribbon model will be first to ship
sE Electronics has announced that it's gone into partnership with pro audio legend Rupert Neve to create a new range of signature series microphones.
The first product to result from this collaboration will be what's being described as a "state-of-the-art active ribbon mic". The discrete circuits and purpose-designed transformers will come from Neve, while the capsule and manufacturing will be sE's responsibility.
We can also look forward to the arrivals of a large diaphragm tube mic and a solid state condenser model. All the mics will share a common look that's described as both retro and forward looking.
The first three signature series mics should be on the market by Summer 2008. Prices are unconfirmed, but given that these are high-performance products, you shouldn't expect them to be cheap.
