Michael Jackson to follow Prince in O2 residency?

Offer reported to be on the table

Michael Jackson may be set to follow in the child-sized footsteps of one-time rival Prince by playing a series of shows at London's O2 Arena.

No deal has yet been confirmed, but Billboard believes that promoter AEG Live has made the star a "standing offer with no expiration".

Jackson's profile has been low recently, but when he recently declined to take part in a Jackson 5 reunion, he did say that he was developing new projects and planned to share them with fans in concert soon.

However, whether he would be physically able to withstand the rigours of a long run of live shows – Prince famously played 21 nights at the O2 – remains to be seen. What's more, there are bound to be question marks over whether Jackson still has the pulling power to sell out such a residency.

So, as with most things related to the erstwhile King Of Pop, we won't believe it until we see it.
