Tenori-on-loving electro-popper is hottest tip
Synth-loving singer/songwriter Little Boots has come out on top of the BBC's Sound of 2009 list.
The Tenori-on-loving artist follows in the footsteps of Adele (last year's winner) Keane and Mika, all of whom have gone on to enjoy considerable chart success.
This being the case, one would assume that Little Boots – real name Victoria Hesketh - is a shoo-in to make it big this year. The 24-year-old hails from Blackpool in the UK, and has been creating a considerable buzz with her sparky brand of electro-pop.
"It is amazing that so many people want to write about me and give me opportunities, and I'm so grateful for that," Little Boots told the BBC.
"For enough of those pundits [who judged the list] to pick me as their favourite act is absolutely incredible and really mindblowing. I'm just so happy that it connects to those people."
Little Boots saw off competition from London rockers White Lies – the full top 10 is as follows:
1. Little Boots
2. White Lies
3. Florence and the Machine
4. Empire of the Sun
5. La Roux
6. Lady GaGa
7. VV Brown
8. Kid Cudi
9. Passion Pit
10. Dan Black
