Find out what's new
It's tit for tat in the notation software business: less than two weeks after Sibelius announced version 6 of its application, the company's big rival MakeMusic has unveiled Finale 2010.
New features are predictably thick on the ground, so let's give you a quick rundown. For a start, there's improved percussion notation, and chords are now handled better in Finale, too.
For playback purposes, the update gives you 350 Garritan instruments to work with, and there's now VST/AU plug-in support. Other additions include automatic rehearsal marks, music education worksheets, extended image export options and scanning improvements.
You can find out more on the MakeMusic website, but if you're already sold, you can pre-order Finale 2010 for $600. Updates for existing customers start at $99.95.
