D'Angelo to work with Prince on new album?

John Mayer to guest too?

D'Angelo, the nu-soul movement's least prolific but most feted star, is reportedly set to release his third album in Summer 2009.

Discounting 2008's 'best of', it's been nine years since D'Angelo's last record, the highly acclaimed Voodoo, and he seems to have had his fair share of personal problems in recent times.

However, a new single, I Found My Smile Again, was released a few months ago (though this was a reworking of an existing track), and Billboard seemingly has it on good authority that a full-length set - called James River - is in the offing.

It reports that this will feature contributions from Raphael Saadiq, Roy Hargrove, Cee-Lo Green, Mark Ronson and – perhaps most excitingly – Prince. In a Q&A on his MySpace page, D'Angelo revealed that he's also "had conversations about John Mayer".

As well as releasing the new album, D'Angelo is expected to play live dates this year.
