Daft Punk to compose Tron 2 soundtrack

Duo to follow in Wendy Carlos's footsteps
It's been announced that the score for Tron 2, the sequel to the cult sci-fi film that's currently in development, will be composed by Daft Punk.
This will be the band's first 'official' soundtrack, though Thomas Bangaleter, who is one half of Daft Punk, did provide the music for controversial 2002 movie Irréversible.
What's more, the duo also wrote and directed 2006's Electroma, the story of two robots trying to become human.
Daft Punk are certainly a logical choice to score Tron 2. The original film featured music by electronic music pioneer Wendy Carlos (who also soundtracked A Clockwork Orange and The Shining), so there's definite hi-tech heritage here.
Tron 2 is expected to be released in 2011.
