Trance is more popular than ever, says new poll
Armin van Buuren has been voted the top DJ of 2008 by readers of DJ magazine. The Dutch globetrotter saw off the challenge of fellow trance lover Tiësto to take the prize for the second year in the row.
It seems that DJ mag's readers really dig their trance, in fact, as next on the list come Paul van Dyk and Above & Beyond. Hip-hop DJs are notable by their absence from the upper echelons of the chart.
You have to look far down the list to find many of dance music's biggest names, too: Daft Punk are at 38, Justice at 73, The Chemical Brothers at 90 and Fatboy Slim at a lowly 92.
The full top 10 is as follows:
1. Armin van Buuren
3. Paul van Dyk
4. Above & Beyond
5. David Guetta
6. Ferry Corsten
8. Markus Schulz
9. John Digweed
10. Infected Mushroom
