Open Labs founder offers NeKo Lux as prize
Costing $24,000 and featuring a 24-carat gold chassis, Open Labs' NeKo Lux might just be the most expensive and bling synth on the market. Now company co-founder and chairman Victor Wong is set to give his own personal model away at an event in the US.
Called the Beats 'N Treats Music Festival, this will take place on October 24 and 25 in Texas. The luxury keyboard will be given to the winner of the Gold Rush Beat Competition that'll be running over the two days.
The NeKo Lux has the specs to match its stylish exterior – it's effectively a computer in a keyboard and ships with 4GB of RAM, a 4TB hard drive, a Blu-Ray/DVD/CD burner and a hefty bundle of software instruments.
Explaining his decision to give the synth away, Wong said: "We've had a lot of public interest in the gold NeKo since we've had it on our website and YouTube videos. I know there are some stellar beat makers out there who deserve this machine, but can't afford it. Now is their chance to own a 24-carat gold NeKo, our best and most expensive machine, using nothing but their talent."
