17-inch MacBook Pro delayed
5th Feb 2009 | 11:40
If you've bought one, you'll have to wait
Apple has told customers who've purchased one of its new 17-inch MacBook Pro laptops that it won't now be shipping for another two weeks.
No specific reason for the delay has been given – an official email simply says: "Wrapping up the new 17-inch MacBook Pro is taking a few days longer than we projected.
"As a result, we will be unable to ship your 17-inch MacBook Pro until February 19, 2009."
The machine looks like a mobile musician's dream, offering a massive amount of screen real estate, powerful graphics capabilities and a "revolutionary" built-in battery that can run for up to eight hours (could this be what's caused the hold-up, we wonder?).
This king-sized MacBook was Apple's only major hardware launch at the 2009 Macworld show in January. Prices start at £1949$2799.
Because of the shipping delay, customers who've already ordered the laptop have been given the option of cancelling. For those who don't, though, 19 February must seem like a long time away.
