White Stripes reunite in Detroit

Sadly, no music was played

The White Stripesreunited onstage two nights ago during a Raconteurs show at the Fillmore Detroit. Sadly, no actual Stripes music was played.

As The Raconteurs took an encore break, Jack Whitewas accompanied onstage by his ex-wife and Stripes's drummer Meg White, who sat at Patrick Keeler's kit and tapped thoughtfully on some of the drums.

The crowd in the Stripes's hometown went berserk, thinking it was about to see a surprise performance by the duo. But when the rest of The Raconteurs returned to the stage, Brendan Benson exclaimed "Whoa...wrong band!" Meg promptly got up and walked off, leaving the band to its encore.

The Stripes have been off the road since last September, when Meg's "acute anxiety" forced the band to cancel dates in the US and UK. Jack White has said the duo has already started working on its seventh studio album.
