Vox amp signed by Paul McCartney raises £3900 for charity

No More Landmines gains from charity eBay auction

You may remember the MusicRadar report on a charity eBay auction for a hand-wired Vox AC15H1TV signed by Sir Paul McCartney.

After 56 feverish bids, the combo eventually sold for a healthy £3900, which will go to the No More Landmines charity.

McCartney has led a host of celebrities in signing a petition calling for a ban on cluster munitions. The former Beatle says: "I call upon individuals, organizations and politicians to do all they can to remove and reduce the impact of these weapons for future generations. When a war is over I think it's a cowardly thing to leave the war behind you in minefields that hit women and children and the most vulnerable.

"Imagine the war is finished and you go to work, going through traffic and there's snipers shooting at you. Imagine taking your kids to the beach and you find that the beach is blown up beneath you.Like there's nowhere safe. That's what I think is insidious about landmines. Landmines take or wreck three lives an hour, every hour of every day. We have to come together to stop that."
