ReValver Mk III modelling software, VYPYR amplifiers and Sanpera controllers announced
For this year's Winter NAMM Peavey have announced the arrival of the VYPYR Series modelling guitar amplifiers and the MIDI foot controllers designed to tame them: the Sanpera I and II.
Peavey have also announced its ReValver Mk III amp modelling software, which we'll start with here...
The 64-bit ReValver software models 15 popular guitar amps including Peavey's own 6505, JSX, Classic, ValveKing and Triple XXX models. The MKIII includes a stomp-box and effects section, and a customisation tool allowing its users to tweak tubes and calibrate voltage parameters. In all, there are more than 15 features on each tube stage, with as many as 17 preamp and power tube types to choose from.
Peavey ReValver Mk III will be available in Q1 2008 with an RRP of $299.99.
VYPYR modelling amplifiers are based on powerful 32-bit, floating-point SHARC processors and feature 24 amp channel models . Also included are 11 editable preamp stomp-box effects and 11 editable post-amp rack effects with dual-parameter control.
The VYPYR also acts as its own computer audio interface which Peavey calls the WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get), with a built-in studio-quality USB 2.0 output on most models.
The RRP for the series begins at $169.99 for the VYPYR 15 (15 watts) to $799.99 for the VYPYR Tube 120 (120 watts). Other models include the VYPYR Tube 60, and the VYPYR 100, 75 and 30 watt amps, all of which will be available from Q2 2008.
Tame the beasts
This brings us on nicely to Peavey's third unveiling, the Sanpera I and Sanpera II MIDI foot controllers designed to enhance the VYPYR Series modelling guitar amplification experience.
The Sanpera II allows the user to remotely control virtually any feature of the VYPYR Series, and increases the preset storage from 12 in-amp presets to a much more impressive 400 programmable presets. This controller also features dual, assignable expression pedals with tap switches, dedicated tap tempo and looper control, as well as footswitches for accessing presets, preamp stomp-box effects, post-amp rack effects, delay and reverb.
The Sanpera I includes an expression pedal for executing volume, wah and pitch shifter functions, plus four momentary feature selector buttons. Both the Sanpera I and II are housed in cast-metal casings and will be available from Q2 2008 with a RRP of $109.99 and $249.99 respectively. For more information, visit the Peavey website.
