Busy programme of events to coincide with Ivor Novello Awards
To coincide with the 53rd Ivor Novello Awards, the first ever London Songwriters Week has been announced. The event isdesigned to celebrate the art of songwriting, and showcase songwriting talent via a series of showcases, seminars andperformances.
With a programme of events commencing on 19 May 2008, expect a unique mix of Q&A sessions and performances from a range of international stars in venues all over London. Highlights include a lyricist session and performance from British rapper Kano, and a live jazz improvisation workshop with Soweto Kinch amongst other leading jazzers.
London Songwriters week is completely accessible to members of the public, with many of the scheduled events free to attend. Key issues covered will include how to make money from your songs, writing for film and television and the move from producing to writing. Also set for inclusion is a real-time, live negotiation of a publishing deal between a songwriter and music publisher.
