KT Tunstall to judge songwriting award

Upload your video to be in with a chance of winning a scholarship

Scottish songstress KT Tunstall will be the celebrity judge of a new competition aimed at aspiring singer-songwriters.

The Shure Creative Award, co-sponsored by the Institute Of Contemporary Music Performance, gives one lucky winner the chance to receive a free place on the Institute’s one-year Higher Diploma course.

Based in London, the course is worth £4950. Two runners up will be offered places on the same course at discounted rates plus prizes from the competition’s sponsors.

K. T. Tunstall had the following to say about the Award: “It's important that the art of songwriting is respected just as much as the ability to perform and play on stage. It's about time there was a competitive platform for young songwriters to win the chance to spend a year honing their craft. It's a great opportunity.”

Applicants should upload a video of themselves performing an original song, on any instrument, to the Shure Creative Award website between 30 May and 13 July 2008.
