Gonzales breaks performance world record

Pianist plays for 27 hours

Gonzales has broken the Guinness World Record for the longest public solo performance.

The Canadian-born MC/singer/pianist, known for his collaborations with Feist and Pink, played 300 consecutive songs on the piano during a performance on 17 May.

His performance lasted more than 27 straight hours at Theatre Cine 13 in Paris.

Gonzales's performance was recorded – see an excerpt here, and log on to Arte.fr soon for the whole 27 hours. We'd advise you bring sandwiches.

A documentary about the event is currently in production.
