Blink-182 producer Jerry Finn dies

Family decided to remove life support

Lauded American producer Jerry Finn died 12 August, after his family decided to remove his life support.

Finn suffered a massive brain haemorrhage in July. According to a post on the Prosoundweb forum, Finn's family made the decision on Saturday.

"Even though he did make snail-like improvement these past 31 days, he is not any better for words and has not had any consistency in the tests that the medical team have done for him," a friend of Finn wrote on the forum. "At this time the haemorrhage has done massive damage to his body which will leave him severely disabled and in need of acute care for the rest of his life. We know Jerry wouldn't want to live like this in a vegetative state."

Finn, who was only 38, started his career as an engineer in the early 1990s before shifting into production. Some of his best-known work was on Rancid's ...And Out Come The Wolves, Blink-182's Enema Of The State and Morrissey's You Are The Quarry.

He also worked with Green Day, Bad Religion, Sparta, AFI and the Offspring, among others. Finn's final credit will be on Morrissey's next solo album, Years Of Refusal, which is now to be released in Spring 2009.
