Based on a new and improved version of Ludwig's reinforced 3-ply drumshells
The Ludwig Drum Co. have developed the Legacy Classic series through newly developed manufacturing methods and tighter quality control. As well as coming equiped with traditional "keystone" badges, the upgrades include low-mass "mini-classic" lugs and genuine Weathermaster drumheads.
At its heart, the handcrafted, American-made Legacy Classic line is based on a new and improved version of Ludwig's legendary, reinforced 3-ply drumshells. The new shells are made from thin, 1/16" hand-selected inner and outer plies of premium-grade North American Maple and a 1/8" cross-laminated North American Poplar core ply. This traditional formula is then augmented by 1/4" maple reinforcement hoops and rounded, "Classic-Cut" vintage-style bearing edges.
Availability is limited due to their handcrafted, labour-intense nature. Initially only two Legacy Classic shell-pack configurations are offered: 22"x18" bass drum with 10"x8" and 12"x9" rack toms, 14"x14" and 16"x16" floor toms (RRP £4990 ) and 24"x18" bass drum with 13"x10" rack tom, 16"x16" and 18"x16" floor toms (RRP £4300). However, the kits will be offered in a wide selection of finish options that include new high-gloss, hand-rubbed Emerald Fade Sparkle (EG) and Rose/Copper Sparkle (RG) lacquers as well as high-gloss versions of all current Ludwig Classic Maple lacquer finishes.
