Eddie Van Halen Signature wah
28th Feb 2008 | 12:07
In a somewhat unexpected but retrospectively obvious move, Jim Dunlop has announced the EVH Signature wah to take its number of EVH stompboxes up to three. Hardly known as a purveyor of all things wacka wacka, the unit is based Ed’s own battered Crybaby and, as befits much of the man’s signature gear, Dunlop have recreated the worn-out pot of the original: we’re told this gives a more pronounced mid-range…
Look, there are no greater fans of EVH than us but we can’t help feeling that the cash cow is close to being milked dry: slapping a bunch of stripes onto any old thing does not make it an EVH signature model, especially a unit that has at best a tenuous connection with the artist in question.
What next; Steve Harris plectrums? The Angus Young multi-effects box?
Bah humbug! It’s bound to be a very good wah: RRP is £219 and will be available from JHS.
