Alice In Chains have begun the songwriting process for a new studio album. An online posting by one of the band's promotional team states: "I've been [in Los Angeles] for five days, sat through three rehearsals and one demo recording session, listened to several other demos, and I can happily report that the new stuff is kicking my ass right out of my pants. Remember that these songs are still only in the early stages of being written too. Just in the time I've been here, the guys have taken a riff and worked on it and expanded it and added layers to it, and now it's practically a full-fledged song."
The band reunited in 2005 and toured the world fronted by Comes With The Fall vocalist/guitarist William DuVall. The band's frontman, Layne Staley, died of a heroin overdose in 2002 following a long struggle with addiction that had effectively put the band on hold since 1996.
